Protecting Your Garage Door
26/09/2016
Winter is approaching fast and like everything, your garage door can take a lot of damage during this period. Protecting your garage from the low temperatures or winter can save you a lot of money and hassle later on down the line.
Anything that you store in a garage can be effected by the cold, whether it be your car or any belongings that you may be storing. There are many ways to keep your garage insulated but the main thing to consider is your garage door.
Most up to date garage doors are pretty good with keeping heat in, mainly sectional doors. However, extra insulation will make sure your garage stays that little bit more safe. There are many kits that you can purchase that include insulation options such as foam boards, reflective barriers and fiberglass batt insulation.
The most important thing to do is to check your garage door. Old garage doors can get worn and produce cracks that allow air through. Close your garage door and look out for a draft, if you feel one. There is a chance you need a new garage door and quick.
If you know your garage door is old and could do with a touch up, get an expert out to have a look. The last thing it needs is heavy weather such as snow or heavy rain causing even more damage. This could cause it to break and then you have to spend money on replacing it.
