Automatic Door Safety
31/10/2016
Huddersfield Garage Doors are always informing our customers to be extra careful when they have automatic garage doors, and to make sure you check them regularly so that all safety features work correctly.
This was highlighted further this week after a 40-year-old mother of one was crushed to death after the automatic roller garage doors trapped her in the car park. Her and a friend had only visited the car park after going to see a friend and this horrible accident is a reminder as to how dangerous garage doors that are automated can be.
At Huddersfield Garage Doors, we would like to try and make sure this doesn’t happen to any of our customers so again remind everyone to ensure their door is checked regularly. All automated garage doors feature a safety gear which should reverse when met with an obstruction, like a box, car or person. You should test this regularly with an empty carboard box to guarantee this always works.
If you have any problems with your garage door and require assistance, someone from our team will be more than happy to pop out and care out a full inspection to put your mind at ease. As we come up to the cooler winter season as well, it is vitally important to check all part of your garage door are working properly. This not only includes any automation but also any faults in alignment, garage door wear and tear and anything else you are worried about.
If you do have any problems with your garage door and require urgent assistance in getting it repaired or replaced, please do not hesitate to contact our team on 01484 829 612.
